Hagerty Spring Thaw Classic Car Adventure 2012 – Day 1

We were greeted in Hope – BC by sporadic rain and overcast skies. We knew we were at the right place by the sound of engines and laughter mixing together over a morning coffee. Probably acquired from the famous Blue Moose cafe a few blocks away. This was the fourth year in a row we have shot the Spring Thaw.

Nick Neu and Andrew Snucins of ASPhotography wandered roughly 700km through the interior of British Columbia following these classic automobiles on their annual spring shakedown. Below are a few of the pictures from day 1. Hope -> SunPeaks. Check back tomorrow for more images from the Sunpeaks -> Penticton leg of the journey!

Wesley & Amanda | Sneak Peak.

Wesley and Amanda. You may remember them from our engagement session last year (http://blog.andrewsnucins.ca/?p=469). Both Amanda and Wesley are outstanding artists; and their passion for life and each other was apparent in every aspect of their wedding. It was a pleasure to be invited out to Talking Rock Resort and  Quaaout Lodge near Chase, BC to capture their special day.

Sea Sonic | Sneak Peak.

I was called mid-afternoon Friday to shoot a ’58 Pontiac in Oyama, British Columbia for Kellys Kustom Pinstriping. Model Kara Cooper braved the cold to pose with the car  / truck hybrid for hours in the -3C weather. And to think, WE were complaining about being cold. Its always fun to shoot something new, and todays hot-rod pin up shoot made for a fantastic Saturday afternoon. Thanks to Kellys Kustom Pinstriping for the great shoot! Enjoy these few sneak peak images from the day.

Olivia Lightfoot

In my years of photography, my hands have never shaken as badly as they did as I pulled a flash and diffuser dome from my camera bag today. I thought to myself “will the flash hurt her eyes? Should I bounce it? Yeah, Ill bounce it, not diffuse it, ok, maybe….is that even better? What lens should I….if only I’d brought my….” I had never thought holding a baby in my arms would be such an amazing experience, but I was blessed today to be allowed in with my dear friends Ramsey and Taqueesha Lightfoot to meet their gorgeous baby girl Olivia. She wasn’t a small baby! At 11lbs 12 ounces she certainly had a head-start on the growing stages. I only took a few photos as I had just spent the better part of an hour holding her and chatting with her exhausted mother and tired but elated father. I admit, out of the thousands upon tens of thousands of frames I have snapped over the years, I have never felt more pride, or joy, at creating a photo.

.Welcome to the world Olivia Lightfoot.

Boldersyde

We’re back in the chair with Nick Neu. Extending his full-sleeve onto his chest with a dragon by Sean at Boldersyde Custom Tattoos in Kamloops. Sean and Nick invited me into the shop today to grab a few quick snaps of the process, with some proper portraits to come once the skin has healed. Unbelievable artwork and atmosphere. The staff, facility, and workmanship are top notch.
